Olavi Louhivuori (b. 1981) is a Helsinki-based drummer, composer, and improviser known for his distinctive and versatile work across contemporary jazz and improvised music. He has built an extensive international career as a member of ensembles such as Oddarrang, Ilmiliekki Quartet, Joona Toivanen trio, Linda Fredriksson Juniper and Superposition, among many other projects in Europe, Japan, Australia and the United States. Louhivuori is active as a bandleader and solo drummer, leading his own ensembles and performing solo concerts internationally.
In addition to his own ensembles, Louhivuori has collaborated with leading figures in improvised music and jazz, including Tomasz Stańko, Susanne Abbuehl, Anthony Braxton, Kenny Wheeler and Marilyn Crispell. He has appeared on over one hundred recordings and performed at major jazz festivals and venues worldwide. Alongside his work as a performer, he is also active as a composer.
