Ilmiliekki Quartet

Ilmiliekki Quartet is a group of young musicians who have an open ear to a broad range of musical influences and an interest in both the past and the present of improvised music and music in general. Having chosen free improvisation as their musical language, they use it to assimilate all of their musical interests ranging from the masters of jazz such as Ornette Coleman and Kenny Wheeler, to the artistically more challenging representatives of today´s rock music, such as Björk, Tom Waits and Radiohead.

SUN

The idea of the trio was born during spring 2005, when the Louhivuori brothers were offered a three week tour in Asia and Australia with local bass players. The tour was a success, so they decided to continue with this trio format. When the bass player Antti Lötjönen joined the band fall 2005 SUN was complete. SUN combines with zest different elements together. There are influences to be heard stemming from Finnish roots, jazz traditions and from inpressionistic melodies and moods, as well as from names such as Arve Henriksen and Dave Douglas. The music of SUN embraces a fusion of both a meditative and intense energy. In fall 2006 SUN won the Young Nordic Jazz Comets -competition in Reykjavik.

Olavi trio

The idea of putting up a band with three guys named Olavi, came into bassist Teppo Hauta-aho´s mind in the spring 2004. Despite having three generations between the players, a musical connection was found from the very first notes. Olavi trios repertuare is based in free improvisation, but some originals can be heard as well.
